SD vs HD Filming

High definition (HD) television is a recording and broadcasting system that gives a picture quality four to five times sharper than the standard definition pictures you used to see and still do quite a lot.  The BBC now record 100% of their programming in HD, as do a growing number of broadcasters around the world.

Many of our clients understand the benefit in “future proofing” their recordings for broadcast when HD becomes a real reality in the UK.

However it does depend on the outcome you want to achieve and on which format your material will be shown.  For example, with HD plasma and LCD screens becoming increasing popular it is easy to see the advantages of having higher quality video, particularly for display purposes.  The increased resolution of the image means the video looks clearer from further away, with the finer details being more clearly defined.

We can deliver your material for both online viewing and DVD.  We can produce everything from a company-wide communication from the CEO, to product launches, press announcements and training videos.  We will work with you to develop and shape your messages, advising you on the optimum timing and most creative approach.

We film on a wide range of cameras including HDV (suitable for online video), Sony DVcam and HD cameras.  With prices becoming more competitive, hiring such equipment is roughly on a par with a conventional SD kit.  For unrivalled, premier picture quality, we can also shoot your production on Red One Cameras.
